1,420 hours of mental health therapy sessions funded through Charlotte nonprofit

On Saturday, the city of Charlotte and Mayor Vi Lyles proclaimed the day “Let’s Talk About It Mental Health Awareness Day” to recognize the work done by Eustress Inc.

May is Mental Health Awareness month, and the organization held its annual Let’s Talk About It Mental Health Awareness Day.

“It was amazing to look out at the people who came out to recognize the importance of mental wellness in the Carolinas,” said Rwenshaun Miller, executive director of Eustress Inc.

Miller is a licensed clinical mental health counselor and CEO of The Good Stress Company, where he and his team of counselors begin the process of therapy by addressing the challenges of clients.

Eustress Inc. was born out of the desire to bring awareness to the importance of acknowledging, improving and preserving mental health, a topic often marked by stigma and denial, particularly in the Black community.

Over 42 million people in the United States have some form of mental illness, and approximately 1 in 25 adults in the U.S. will experience a serious mental illness each year that substantially interferes with their life activities.

“Just last year, Eustress funded over 1,400 hours of therapy for 176 people,” Miller said. “It couldn’t have been done without the help of our donors.”

Eustress was founded to help those who may not have the financial ability to access quality care to address their mental health needs.
